RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. 24th February, 1865. (Before T. W. Parker, Esq., R.M.)
Archibald M'Leod and Wm. Thornton, for committing a breach of the public peace, pn the 23rd inst., were fined 10s. each, or 24 hours' imprisonment. The adjourned case of Mr Andrew Baker, for permitting a nuisance to exist in Tyne-street, was fully heard, Mr O'Meagher appearing for the defendant. It was stated that Mr Baker was perfectly willing to deepen the drain at his own expense to let the water run off, should he able to obtain permission, but that he would not make a cesspool, as requested by the Town Board. This, it was represented, would be a greater nuisance than the other. Mr Baker was advised to apply to the Town Board for permission. The defendant was ordered to abate the nuisance.
