WOO L ! WOOL ! ! WOOL ! ! ! TO WOOL-GROWERS, MERCHANTS, AND OTHERS, - OF OTAGO, CANTERBURY, AND 30TJT HLAND. -pjRIVER, MACLEANAND CO. beg respectfully to inform the WOOL-GROWERS, MERCHANTS, &c, of this and the neighboring Provnce&, that on removing to their now and commodous premises in HIGH-STREE1, they have made arrangements for lidding during the season a series of AUCTION SALES OF WOOL, HIDES, AND TA1L0W. It is a well-known fact that in ill the Woolproducing; Colonies of Great Britsih the system of disposing of this staple by publi competition has become universal, and has provd eminently advantageous, alike to the buyer 8id the seller. Nothing can be more desirable tian that the wool-growers of the extensive disrict of which Dunedin is the centre, should bo phced in a position to avail themselves of a modoof sale which has bcon found so useful elsewhere. It is with the view of meeting a want so getprally felt, Jiat the undersigned have been inclined to devote a large portion of the premises atove referred to, to the purpose of a WOOL AUCTION MART. It is (heir intention to conduct this branch of (heir business in the same maijier as it has for years been carried on by thqr fiiends aud flints — Messrs R. Goi,dsboko:gii & Co., of Melbourne, and by other emineit firms in the neighboring colonies of Aus>tiaty. They have also, lo ensure its efficient management, engaged the services of Mr W. L. Lkks, ft practical and expei ienced Woolsorter, Avho h4s beon several j'ears employed in the same ine by Messrs Goldsborough aud Co. ( From the arrangements thus, completed, the grower, on consigning his Woo to the undersigned, will secure the double advantage of having it placed on \ic\v and offeied for sale in this market; and in case of its not lping disposed of to meet his views as to its vaue, of having it shipped under efficient superintendence, either to Melbourne or Great Britain, orto Great Britain via Melbourne. A further and most important advantage will be found in the opportunity now provided for having Wools pnperly sorted and classified on the spot; as it las been found by experience that Wools irregulirly packed never realise their full value. On consigning Wools to thJ undersigned, constituents will please to furnisl full pai ticulars of their classification, specially diitingui&hing FLEECE Wools from lambs, locks, ,'ieces. or broken and mixed. This yrecautioi is required by the necessity of selling these different classes of Wool separately. Wools sent to the undersgned for shipment to Great Britain will, if not specially consigned, be forwarded to their Agents, the well-known firm of MILES BROS. & CO., Of Londjn a\d Liverpool, In whose hands the inttfests of the consignor will be secuie of careful attention. DBIVER, MACLEAN k CO., Wool Brokers a,nd Stock and Station Salesmen, High-street, Dunedin.
