THATCHER IS NOT COMING! !
(To the Editor of the Oaharu Times.) Sib, — As wo shall not be able to land at Oamaru, I will not trouble you to print the bill that my brother sent the copy of this morning. Wo must come from Dunedin at some other time, and I will give you due notice. I hope you will excuse mo for tho trouble I have given you. Yours etc., R. Thatcher. Steamer City of Dunedin, December 10th, 1864.
(To the Editor of the Oamartt Times.) Dear Sin, -In the shipping intelligence of a recent number of the Otago " Daily Times," I observe notice drawn to the fact of the Star of Tasmania having parted the Government moorings during the late heavy weather. Had the notice ended hero, there would have been no cause of complaint ; but advantage is taken of the circumstance to try and lead to the belief that our port is unsafe. The statement of the probability of the Star of Tasmania bearing up for Port Chalmers, is perfectly untrue, that vessel, on the contrary, being now laid to her own anchors, as ought to have been done at first, the Government moorings having been frequently pronounced unsafe by competent authorities. The Malay will bo here very shortly, and I have no doubt both she and the Star of Tasmania will leave our port with a full freight of wool and without any accident, which will be the best answer to such misrepresentations as those to which I have drawn attention. I am, &c, Oamaru.
