CARTAGE REPORT.
The following list may be taken as approximate to the rates of .cartage at present ruling between Oamaru and the undermentioned places. When return loading is given, tho prices may bo quoted at a lower figure :— Maerewbenua Per ton £3 0 0 Kurow (Low and Brace's Ferry) ~ 415 o "Wbare Kauri „ 6 0 0 Otamatata ... ... ... „ 635 0 Oamararaa ... „ 8 5 0 Longslip 9 5 0 Morven Hxlls „ 10 10 0 Deep Creek „ 14 15 0 Sandy Point „ 16 10 0 Boeky Point „ 17 0 0 Alberton „ 18 0 0 The above has reference to one ton, or more than a ton—-part of a ton at .a proportionately higher figure. The late of cartage between Oamaru and Tyler and Brown's Perry, Waitaki, is about 30s. per ton. About the town, per day:—One-horse team, £1 • two-horse do., 305.; three-horse do., 3Ss. Bates of cartage can no longer be quoted at former prices. Although it is questionable whether there bo sufficient strength on the road to bring the wool down before the rairy season sets in, contracts have been taken at prices which can scarcely remuneiato the caiter, Cbobge Sumfter, Commission Agent.
DUNEDIrT.— Messrs Driver & Co. held their Opening Wool Sale on Ist inst. Out of 12 lots offered 10 found buyers at very'satisfactory rates; scoured fleece brought 2s; greasy fleece, from 9_d to 14_d, as follows:—Scoured fleece, SI?, 1 bale, 2s per lb; do do, B, 3 bales, passed : do do, P in diamond, 17 bales, do ; greasy wool, C 7 bales, 10gd per lb; do do, all faults, + over GG, 4 bales, _*X. d 2„ u d ? d % dt \ do > l i b , ftle , s - I{) M do > w°oi, S&F, 38 bales, 9%d do • do locks, do, 1 bale, 4|d do ; do fleece, do, 4 bales, 9_d do:"do Loiccnter, T, 2 bales, 14M do ; do, T, 3 bales, 13d do; •do f over GG, 160 bales, passed. Sheep skins all sold at 6|d to Bd' per pound 38 hides passed. About _ tons tallow sold at H32 5$ per fan. r
