LADIES' BAZAAR.

This undertaking, which was carried out under the same auspices as the Amateur Concert, and took place on the following day, was an equally decided success. The spacious and newly erected wool store in which it was held, was most fancifully decorated for the occasion. Cabbage trees were so skilfully planted in connection with the side pillars, and in other paits of the room, that they impaited a thoroughly New Zealand character to the »hole scene; while the abundance of flower aiches, flays and banners added gaiety to the \\ hole. Them \* ere four elegancy arranged stalls, two of which were double, and one of the latter was supplied abundantly with most excellent refreshments. E\ery -.tall seemed to have some special attraction, besides its array of fancy and useful ai tides, and-the unremitting attention of the ladies serving thereat. A wedding cake— a monster doll dte:-std as a bride—a powerful microscope with a most interesting collection of slides, &c. Then, the presence ot a piano gave occasion to some pleasant snatches of music. A weighing machine in constant operation enabled who would, to learn, his weight of chaiaeter upon so interesting or so trying an occasion, 'lhe auction sales at a later hour also afforded great amusement. Among the articles contributed to the b.iz ar should be mentioned a good fat pig, and the fleeces of all the sheep shorn in competition at the show yards. The room was well filled most of the day, and sometimes crowded. Over L2O was received at the door for shilling tickets, and the gross proceeds amounted to about L24o—enabling the originators and promoters of the Bazaar to discharge the debt they wished to cover, and to hand over a very handsome surplus to the church building fund. As requested, we publish in another column the thanks of the clergyman and vestry for much help given in many ways.
