AGRICULTURAL REPORT.

Since our last, the district has been favored with a most seasonable and refreshing rain yvhich has had already a visible effect on the eaily soyvn crops, and without yvhich the late sown and the grass seeds yvould have been almost a failure: in fact yve have not had such a rain-fall since Feb. last. The seed-time being noyv over we have endeavored to ascertain the quantity of land under vheat in the district and find that 500 acres yvill about represent the quantity under that cereal, yvhich tnktn at the moderate average (for this district) of 25 bushels to the acre, yvill give 12.500 bushels as the probable produce of tbe district and deducting say 1500 bushels for wed for the next season's crop, yvill Itive 11,000 bushels available for breadstuff*, or about 250 tons of flour, and this quantity can be ground with our present appliances in less than six month*; and as yve learn that the oyvner of the Oamaru Steam Mills has determined to adopt silk dressing instead of wire-cloth, we anticipate a superior ai tide in flour, yvithout importing after next harvest. As yve stated in a previous report, in the absence of foreign importations, prices would remain firm; noyv, in the face of an arrival of 500 tons of Chilian at Dunedin, prices have an upward tendency. We quote best Adelaide flour L 34, Oamaru Steam Mill, L 29 per Wheat, none in the market. Barley, ditto. Oats, 5s 3d to (Is per bushel, for colonial. Hay, good Oaten, LB. Chaff, do LlO. Potatoes, Ll2 per ton.
