MEETING OF OAM ARU DISTRICT SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of tho above committee was held on Tuesday last, the 4th inst., pursuant to advertisement, for the balancing of accounts, and to prepare for the Annual Educational Meeting which takes place on the 10th inst. Present : — Messrs. J. Lemon, (in tho chair), Filleul, Locke, French, Payne, and Gibbs. A correspondence with the General Board was read on the subject of the materials, as bricks, &o , employed in the erection of the Schoolmaster's house, and as to the assessment of property m tho occupation of Clergymen", and m the hands of Church Trustees. An opinion was read of Mr Gillies, (formerly Provincial Solicitor), to the effect that such property was not exempt, not being solely held for religious purposes Mr Locke the Treasurer gave an approximate state of the assets.

It ivaa nirned as an amendment by Mr French, seconded by Mr Filleu), that these rates be recommended for adoption. The amendment was carried by 4 to 2. The meeting then adjourned until 10th hist., at 5 p m.
