"VfOTICE.— SALE OF CROWN LANDS 1_>I by PUBLIC AUCTION.— Notice is hereby given that the Sections of Land in Block IV., Papakaio, with the exception of such of them as are reserved for public purposes, will be sold by auction at the Land Office, Dunedin, on Thursday, the 20th October next, at 12 o'clock noon. This being the first sale under the Otago Waste Land Acts 1 and 2, 1863, the public are requested to observe that the Sale is an Open One, at which any person may bid. PUBLIC LECTURE.— A Request having been made to the Rev. CHARLES CONNOR to deliver an EVENING LECTURE on some popular subject, the proceeds from admission to be applied towards the Presbyterian Church Building Fund, and he having acceded to the request, the said Lecture will be delivered in the DISTRICT SCHOOL-HOUSE, on THURSDAY, 20th October, at 7 p.m. Subject— THE EARTH'S CRUST. Tickets 3s. each ; Reserved Seats, 5s. To be had at Messrs Hood and Sheunan's, or Messrs F. Pinkerton and Co 'a, Wansbeck-street ; and at Mr John Falconer's, Seedsman, Thames-street.

A PUBLIC MEETING will be held at the Star and Garter Hotel, at half-past 7 o'clock, on SATURDAY Evening, the 8th instant, for the purpose of making arrangements to get up RACES on the Oamaru Racecourse, on the day following the Agricultural Show.
