MOUNT BENGER.

Mr Warden Simpson estimates the population of the Mount Benger district at 1250, of whom 900 are miners.

The following appointments on the goldfields have been made by the Superintendent : — Anthony Dixon Wilson, Esq., to be Assistant Mining Surveyor at Tjiapeka ; appointment to date from 2nd July. Charles C. Schaw, Esq., to be District Warden for the district of Cardrona ; appointment to date from 1st July. Charles Macindoe, Esq., Clerk of Courts, to be also Mining Registrar and Gold Receiver at Arrow; appointment to date from 1st July.
