LONDON WOOL REPORT.
June 24, 186 A.
The sales commenced on May 5, and closed on June 9 The number of bales catalogued consisted of—Australian, 15,28! bales; Fort Phillip, 46,958 bales; Tan Piemen's land, 15S8 bales; Adelaide, 10/170 bales; New Zealand, RBGI bales; Swan Pivpv, 2079 bales ; Capo, 12,523 bales ; total, 103,763 bales. On the reduction of the Bank rate to 8 and 7 per .cent , an improvement in our market became perceptible, and towards the clo»c an advance of _d to Id ws established. The attendance of buyers, both home and foreign, ha« been large throughout, the whole of the scries, and for export we estimate that 40,000 bales have been taken, nearly all for Franco. At no time do 'we recollect a more uniform sale, prices and biddings being well maintained throughout the sale. The steady activity in tho North augurs well for our July-August sales, and although with the large quantity then to be offered (estimated at 120,000 to 330,000 bales) no advance con be expected, yet we look for prc.cnt prices. Tho home dealers bought very sparingly, preferring to await the result of next sales.—Home News.
