TO THE ROMAN CATHOLICS OF OAMARU.
Dear Feiends, — Before leaving Oamaru, I beg to call your attention to the desirability of securing a site for Church purposes. Yesterday, 1 visited different parts of the town in search of a suitable and central piece of ground, and having fixed in} 1 mind upon one I feel anxious to secure it. It is my intention, on my nrrhal in Dutiedin, to apply for it. But as it would be of no use doing so without money in hand, I therefore come to you, through the columns of the ()am<vru Timi b, to ask all of ) ou to aid me in this matter. The site, I think, will cost about £50 ; and as the ground will soon be offered for sale, 1 therefore ask you to put me in a position to secure it at once. The Bank of New Zealand has kindly undertaken to receive contributions. Mr James Carter, being provided with a subsubscription list, will go round and receive subscriptions. It is my intention to publish in the Oamabu TiMts the names and amounts of subscription of our friends. Praying that God may have you in His holy keeping, I am, dear friends, Yours very sincerely, D. Mohbau, P.P. May 10th, 1864.
