WAR IN DENMARK.
I Prussia and Austria h.i\ ing refused the guarantee of England that Denmaik would fulfil her engagements under the London Treaty of 18.52, while Denmuik announced her willingness to suspend and annul the November constitution, b} which Schleswig was made part of Denmark, the Federal troops entered llolstein without opposition from the Danes, to hold it as a material guarantee for the fulfilment of j Denmark's engagement towards the ! duchies. They next demanded the sur- i render of Schleswig, whit h, being refused, the Federal forces matched upon that duchy. After severe lighting, the Danes j retired to Jutland. Denmark has blockaded the ports of Schleswig and llolstein. In the commencement of the month, the [ Prussians crossed the Schlei at itb mouth. ' turning the Danish position. The Danes | abandoned the Dannevirke, and retreated to Flensborg, and thence to Alsen Island, ' after hard fighting nnd much distress. On receipt of this news at Copenhagen, j riots ensued. The King's life was threa- J tened by a mob, who accused him of j having German sympathies. General de Meya has been recalled. The Prussians were repulsed \\ ith be^ ere loss in an attack on Danish intreuchnients at Duppell.
