PLEURO-PNEUMONIA.

Mr. Kforne's report to the Committee of the Anti-Pleuro-Pneumonia Society Oamaru : — Gentlemen, — On the Bth instant I was informed that a man named M'Evor had reported the tresspass ef two or three head of cattle belonging to Mr Orbell across the boundry. I have made enquiries, and believe the case can be proved against the offender. But how it has been brought about is another ques- ] tion. It has been stated here by some that they were first driven across and then reported, from a feeling of malice and for the purpose of claiming the reward. This is Mr Williams' opinion, who will be one of the witnesses. The men reported the matter to him immediately after they said they hod seen them ; he went out and found three head close to his cattle but not joined, and five further up the ranges, to which he could not get near, for as fast as he pursued them they retreated towards the ranges. I do not think any harm has beeu caused by the trespass. Should you think bo, however, Mr Williams is willing to sell his cattle to the Committee. If you wish it I will give the prosecution of the case into the hands of the police at Moeraki at once, and it will then be for 'Mr Orbell or the man in charge to make what defence they can. I have the honor etc., James Hobne. Palmerston, 11th April 1864.
