RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Friday, I st April, 1864. (Before T. W. Parker, Esq., R.M.)
William Shaw, charged hj Constable Smith with slaughtering without license. _ He acknowledged the charge, stated his ignorance of the necessity of having a license, and promised to apply. Fined one shilling and costs.
Monday, 4th April, 1864. (Before T. Y. Parker, Esq., R.M.) George Hook, a lnd not more than ten years of age, was charged with unlawfully 'destroying some carrots, the pioperty of John Hartly. _, His Worship reprimanded the lad, and on his father promising to look more after him, he was fined 55,, and costs Elizabeth M'lntyre, brought up on retrand charged with violently assaulting Pnvid Jeffreys, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. There was no appearance of the piosecutor. The case was therefore dismissed. John Walker alias Burrows charged by Sergeant Bullen with riding furiously along the street on Friday week last. The defendant denied the charge, but brought no witnesses to prove his statement. Fined 20s, including costs, or ten days' imprisonment. Robert Baxter, charged with riding furiously along the street on the same day, fined a shilling, and costs.
