TOWN BOARD.

An adjourned meeting of the Town Board was held at the Court-house on Thursday last, the 31st ult , at 3 o'clock. There were present— Messrs Hassell (in the chair), Gibbs, Baudinet, Shrimski (new member), Williams, and Falkner. A letter was handed in from the Clerk, stating that he was called away from town on urgent business, and would not, therefore, be at his post at the meeting, but that Mr Gibbs had consented to do duty for him. Mr Gibbs, however, declined. After some little time, the Chairman consented to officiate as clerk, and the Board proceeded to business. Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. In accordance with a notice of motion made at the previous meeting, Mr Gibbs moved that the resolution passed on the 10th of December last, relative to the fencing of the Esplanade, in so far as it relates to Aron-street, be rescinded. Mr Gibbs stated as his reason for moving the resolution that he had heard when Aron-street, along the line of fence, was brought to its proper level, the fence, owing to the elevation of the street, would be useless As an amendment, Mr Falkner moved that the resolution before the meeting be allowed to He on the table until the Surveyor sent in to the Board an official report of the lrvels of Aron-street. Mr Gibbe thought the Surveyor was very remiss in the discharge of such duties, and was deseiving of censure. The amendment was then put and carried. , , Moved by Mr Falkner that the Clerk be instructed to write to the Survey or, requesting immediately the levels ot Jyne and Aron-streets. COKRFBPO>*Dl r NCE. A letter was read fron Messrs Pinkerton nnd Co., requesting permission of the Board to post bills on public property in the town. # The Clerk was instructed to reply, granting permission to post bills on the property of the Board, exceptingthe Bridge. A letter from the contractor of the Esplanade was read, stating that Messrs. Dalgetv. Rattray & Co., had caused two pannels of the fence of the Esplanade to be destroyed and requested the Board to protect his work from further injury. After some little discussion, the Board was of opinion that they could not take action in the matter. The meeting adjourned sine ate.
