The following is the latest from the Auckland market, taken from the Weeltly JS'ervs of the 20th ult :— " General business has been rather dull during the week, owing partly to so many men being absent at the Front. A notice was however issued yesterday by the Deputy-Adjutant-General, that arrangements were in progress by which militiamen and volunteers, now called away on service, might procure substitutes at a cost of £10 each. This welcome intimation, along with the arrivals from England, Melbourne and Sydney, was expected immediately to create a revival in trade. The City of Manchester, ship, from London, the Kate, barque, from Sydney, and the Arthur Mackenzie, brig, from Melbourne, have each brought general cargoes. Some of these goods have baen already sold at a fair price, and importers have generally done well. There is an exception as to teas, and one or two articles already plentiful here. Several vessels are daily expected from Australia." Bread Stuffs.— There is a considerable demand, and flour is scarce, still selling at £1 7 per ton, and about £19 retail. Prices in the Melbourne market, by the latest advices brought by the Swiftsure, remained unch mged. Maize was fetching about 7s. per bushel.
