The ship Commodore arrived from Mauritius on the ltth instant. Brings a large lot of sugar. Advices received by her roport that stocks are low, and that a considerable advance has taken place in prices. The American barque Trieste arrived on 22nd instant from San Francisco via Melbourne, ' bringing upwards of 8000 bags oats. The barque Grayhound was towed up to the Dunedin Bay, where she will discharge tho remainder of her cargo. She s,jb. Queen on her trip from Wellington to Lyttleton had to stop steaming for seven hours the plunger of the feed pumps having become « diemrrasged.

A considerable amount of inconvenience to the inhabitants of Bunedin and aurreunding districts, haß beer caused by the want of sufficient travelling facilities, consequent upon the Gteelong being laid up for repairs, and the City of Dunedin making longer trips than usual. We are glad to state, howeyer, that the Creelong is now nearly ready to resume her former trade. She has undergone a thorough overhaul, separate accommodation being made in the steerage for female passengers. The poop has also been enlarged, and the cabins newly fitted up. With two such steamers as the City of Punedin and Geelong, the rapidly increasing traffic — both as regards passengers and goods — will, we are convinced, be well and efficiently carried out, and that there will no longer be any cause for dissatisfaction.
