PRINCESS, KAITAIA Two Features for Friday and Saturday The strange story of a lovely woman who was the most deadly rifle shot living, man or woman, is dramatised in “Annie Oakley,” with Barbaia Stanwyck in the title role—this is the first feature picture to be screened at the Princess on Friday and Saturday. The second feature is “The Tough Gray,” featuring Jackie Cooper. Your heart will pound with excitement, you’ll be moved to laughter and tears, as a boy, a dog and a crook take you on the most amazing screen adventure in months.
Grace Moore on Monday Grandest of all musical love dramas “The King Steps Out,” will be shown on Monday evening. Grace Moore and Franchot Tone are featured. You w ill be given the opportunity of again hearing the divine voice of Miss Moore on Monday evening and you should not miss this opportunity. Coronation Night, Wednesday A special programme will be screened on Wednesday, Coronation Night. William Boyd will appear in a whirlwind western story, “Call of the Prairie,” in the first feature. Comedy romance that races riotously ! sparkling wise-cracking dialogue ! two great characters brought to life by Margaret Sullavan and Henry Fonda ! That is the bundle of bigtime screen entertainment wrapped up and labelled “The Moon’s Our Home,” which is the second feature. AWANUI TALKIES Saturday A sparkling story of romance, adventure and song jit Palm Springs, the playground of movie stars and millionaires, where cowboys sing lilting songs and two lovers find romance under a silver moon. Such is “Palm Springs,” the film to be screened at the Awanui Talkies on Saturday. Wednesday, Coronation Evening Special Programme A special programme will be screened on Wednesday, Coronation night. The first picture will be all in colour, the title, “Gipsy Sweetheart.” The second picture, “A Star Fell From Heaven,” laden with limitless laughs, youthful romance, secrets of screenland, and the glorious voice of Joseph Schmidt singing songs that greatly enrich his repertoire. “ ELIZA COMES TO STAY ” ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY Judging from reports that have come from rehearsals, the Kaitaia Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society are putting on a super show at the A. and P. hall on Monday and Tuesday evenings next, when “Eliza Comes to Stay” will be staged. The box plan, which is now open at the Kaitaia Music Store, is filling rapidly
and to be sure of a seat reservation is advised. The majority of the actors are well and favourably known to Kaitaia audiences for previous productions of the Society, and Mr. White, the producer of this comedy, although new to Kaitaia, comes with a record of successful amateur productions in other centres. Heading the cast, in the name role, is Mrs. Roy Kelly, who is ably supported by Mrs. Hugh Bagley and Mrs. P. Stone, while the male roles are in the capable hands of Des , Barry, Gordon Bell, Logan Dye and Hec Kirtlan.
