Disastrous Fire at Opotiki.

An Ex-Resident of Mangonui Rendered Homeless. Mr. W. J. McCready’s Shop and Residence Burnt to the Ground. News was received here yesterday morning by telegram that Mr. W. J. McCready’s saddler’s shop, with dwelling house attached, had been burnt to the ground, notliing whatever being saved. The fire occurred on Sunday morning, and originated in an adjoining store. So far as we can learn there was no insurance. Mr. McCready will be well remembered, having spent some years here in business, leaving for Opotiki 2] years ago, where he was gradually building up a profitable business. Great sympathy will be felt for Mr. and Mrs. McCready in their misfortune.
