After a deal of discussion in the House recently, Mr. T. E. Taylor, M.H.R. (Christchurch City) moved “That the item, ‘ New premises, Wellington, for Public Trust Office, £15,000,’ be struck out.” The motion was negatived, the item being retained. No wonder that, with money so lavishly expended on palatial public buildings in the cities, so little is available for loads and bridges in the country.
