A Thrilling Adventure.
A sensational accident occurred recently at Bradford Exhibition (Eng.). A youth named Baker, a full-back of Menston Association Football Club, and employed as an engineer at the exhibition, made an ascent in one of Colonel Cody’s manlifting war kites. Three kites without human occupants w’ere flying at the time at a height of 2,000 feet. The kite in which Baker was sea + ed w r as placed on wire connecting the other kites, and when set free immediately flew r up the wire. At an altitude of 1,500 feet the kite which carried Baker was flung and tossed about in a violent wind, and had both wings tom, and was otherwise damaged. The thousands of anxious onlookers expected to see the youth thrown out every second, but he maintained his hold. The attendants commenced to haul in the kites, and succeeded in lowering them, and Baker descended on the roof of a house 300 yards away.
