THE LATEST NEWS.

Will There Yet Be War? Two authorities say that the Baltic fleet attacked its own torpedo boats, supposing them to be Japanese. Two boats which were scouting loomed out of the fog ahead of the transport Almuda, which reported being attacked. One boat escaped across the bows of the fleet. When firing began the commander of the second boat imagined he was being attacked by the Japanese fleet, and replied with quick-firers. Thus several men on the warship were wounded. Discovering the mistake, the firing at length ceased, but during the firing the damage was done to the fishing fleet. It is reported now from St. Petersburg that if the British fleet stops the Russian till after the enquiry, it will mean war. British ships are watching Russian ships and patrolling near them.
