That Nuisance.
TO TUB KDITOB. Sir,—ln a recent issue of the " Mangonui County Times ” I noticed a letter signed “ Rambler,” bearing on dead cuttle being thrown into the Oruru River, and there left till decomposed or oarried away by the tido A few days ago I had thq pleasure (1) of using this thoroughfare, passing several dead cattle on the way, all in an advanced state of decomposition. Seeing such on amount of sickness has boen amongst us lately, is it fair to travellers using this thoroughfare (and they arc many) that such a state of things should be allowed to exist r Certainly we are to have a hospital in our midst, but does that institution wish to have to deal with eases of diphtheria or typhoid due to owners of cattle neglecting to give their dead .stock a proper burial '• Surely something con be done to have this very objectionable public nuisance removed, and allow travellers the privilege of retaining their health whilst rising a thoroughfare almost equal in traffic Road in Mangonui.
