iHteceilancous. NELSON COAST STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY. At a meeting hold in the Literary Institution, Nebon, on Wednesday, tho 19th of September, 1855, W. R. Nicholson, Esq., in the chair — It was proposed by Mr. Fearon, seconded by Mr. Curtis, and carried unanimously — " That a Company be formed to establish Steam ■Communication between Nelson, Motucka, Massacre Bay, and other yiarts o£ tho province, to be called the Nelson Coast Steam Navigation Company." Proposed by Mr. Wilkie, seconded by Mr. Feahox, and carried unanimously — "That the capital of the Company bo £2,000, in 400 shares of £5 each, and that two-thirds of each share be pnid up on the Deed of the Company being signed." Proposed by Mr. Wixtebbubn, seconded by Mr. Jennings, and carried unanimously — " That power be given to the Directors of tho Company to make application to tho Trustees of tho Nelson Trust Fund for a loan of £2,000, and to give bond on behalf of the shareholders for the amount." Proposed by Mr. Cuktis, seconded by Mr. "YYilkie, and carried unanimously — a Provisional Committee be appointed to manage the affairs of tho Company until tho appointment of Directors, and that the same consist of Mesar3. Nicholson, Hidings, Fearon, Campbell, Parker, and Curtis." (Signed) W. R. Nicholson, Chairman. Tho company was originally intended to consist of twenty shareholders in shares of £75 each, five of the •harei to be reserved for tho residents of Motueka. Fifteen of the shares were subscribed for in Nelson, also two out of tho five reserved for Motueka, but simultaneously with the agitation raised in Nelson for a Steamer, there was a similar manifestation in Motueka, and a desire evinced in that place for a moro extended proprietary by means of £1 or £5 shares. The proceedings of the proposed Nelson Company were therefore delayed to endeavour to effect an amalgamation of tho two interests, and with this view correspondence and interviews took place between the projectors of the different schemes, which resulted in the arrangement carried out in the meeting above adTertised. The original subscribers to the £75 shares will therefore please to intimate as soon as possible to the Provisional Committee how many of the £5 shares they will now take ; and the capital of the Company being enlarged, there will be somo £5 shares open to the public, applications for which will bo received until the 21st of October next by any member of the Provisional Committee. From late information received flrom Melbourne, there is every reason to believe tbjrc a Steamer of the description desired may be procjttred advantageously at the present time, and the Cotnmittee are now engaged vi making arrangements'to secure one, by forwardiiig instructions to*, then/ agent in that place by the next post.
