Nelson, October 8, 1855. ELSON COAST STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY. At a meeting held in the Literary Institution, Nelson, on Wednesday, the 19th of September, 1855, W. R. Nicholson, Esq., in the chair — It was proposed by Mr. Feabon, seconded by Mr. Cuetis, and carried unanimously — " That a Company be formed to establish Steam Communication between Nelson, Motueka, Massacre Bay, and other parts of the province, to be called the Nelson Coast Steam Navigation Company." Proposed by Mr. Wilkie, secondedby Mr. Feabon, and carried unanimously— "That the capital of the Company,i>e £2,000, in 400 shares of £5 each, and that two-thirds of each share bo paid up on the Deed of tho Company being signed." Proposed by Mr. Wintebbuen, seconded by Mr. Jennings, and carried unanimously — " That power be given to the Directors of the Company to make application to the Trustees of the Nelson Trust Fund for a loan of £2,000, and to give bond on behalf of the shareholders for the amount." Proposed by Mr. Citbtis, seconded by Mr. Wilkie, and carried unanimously — "That a Provisional Committee be appointed to manage the affairs of the Company until the appointment of Directors, and that the same consist of Messrs. Nicholson, Ridings, Fearon, Campbell, Parker, and Curtis." (Signed) W. R. Nicholbon, Chairman. The company was originally intended to consist of twenty shareholders in shares of £75 each, five of the shares to be reserved for the residents of Motueka. Fifteen of the shares were subscribed for in Nelson, also two out of the five reserved for Motueka, but simultaneously with the agitation raised in Nelson for a Steamer, there was a similar manifestation" in Motueka, and a desire evinced in that place for a more extended proprietary by means of £1 or £5 shares. The proceedings of tho proposed Nelson Company g&xnatiou of the two interests, and with this vie\i correspondence and interviews took place between the .projectors of the different schemes, which resulted' in the arrangement carried out in the meeting above advertised. The original subscribers to the £75 shares will therefore please to intimate as soon as possible to the Provisional Committee how many of the £5 shares they will now take ; and the capital of the Company being enlarged, there will be some £5 shares open to the public, applications for which will be received until the 21st of October next by any member of the Provisional Committee. From late information received from Melbourne, there is every reason to believe that a Steamer of the description desired may be prqsured advantageously at the present time, and the Committee are now engaged in making arrangements to-secure one, by forwarding instructions to their agent in that place by the next post.
