These allotments were unsold when the general ballot for priority of choice was held on the 30th of August iast ; nevertheless the numbers which represent them in the original Registry of applications were placed in the wheel with all the other numbers, and the unsold numbers were drawn promiscuously with those which had been previously disposed of; consequently to each of the unsold numbers definite rights of priority of choice (distinct in respect to each of the sections above described) have been attached by the ballot. 3. Until further notice, any party, or his' Agent, attending at the New Zealand House on any Thursday at three o'clock, p. M. and producing the receipt of the Company's Bankers, Messrs. Smith, Payne, and Smith's, for jtf3oo, will be entitled to draw-in the presence of the Court of Directors, from a wheel in which the registry numbers of all unsold allotments have been deposited, with special precautions for theer security and for the fairness of the proceeding. The register of the original ballot will then shew to the party drawing and number, to what rights of priority of choice he is entitled. 4. Applicants therefore will obtain preliminary allotments on precisely the same terms, with respect to price and the chances, of priority of choice, as original purchasers. 5. A list of the registry;|numbers with the rigfits of choice which were attached to each by the, original ballot, maybe seen at the New Zealand House, on application" to the Secretary. 0. Present purchaserj will be entitled to the same privileges, in respect to an allowance for cabin passages, (not exceeding 25 per cent, on the purchase money) as those who bought allotments before the general ballot. 7. Purchasers' not proceeding [to New Zealand will be entitled to delegate their rights of [choice to any [Agent whom they may nominate; or, if they should prefer it, such choice will be exercised on their behalf by the officer* of the Company. AT "a Meeting of Emigrants on board the Mary Anne, bound to New Zealand, held on Monday, January 10, 1842, for the purpose of considering and deciding upon the expediency of establishing in the settlement of Nelson a BENEFIT CLUB, or Friendly Association, William Cubling Young, Esq., in the Chair ; Ihe following Resolutions were proposed and carried : — 1. Moved by Mr. G. Saundebs; seconded by Mr. R. Boddington : That, inasmuch as it is desirable at all times to provide for tne casualties and contingencies of the future out of the abundance or sufficiency of the present, as the habit of selfreliance is destroyed when men are accustomed to look for assistance, in time of need, either from individual charity or pablio provision ; and as it appears to be especially the interest of persons belonging to the industrious classes, in case of their being disabled tor work by age, sickness, infanity, i or ace«dert, or in the event of d»«tl», to kcpum far*h«p»r*«itL-. lies a maintenance out of a fund which they themselves have contributed to raise ; this meeting is of opinion that the formation of a~Society in the Colony of Nelson, founded on the principles of mutual aid and friendly combination, and | having for its object the support of its members when at any time unable to follow their usual employment, and of their families in the event of their own death, would be a measure of public importance and utility. 2. Moved by Mr. ViiJfcsNT ; seconded by Mr. Packman : That a committee, with power to add to their number, be now appointed, for she purpose-of making preliminary arrangements for the formation of the proposed Society ; that they be icquested to procure the accession of such- influential persons as may appear likely to give weight to the undertaking; and that, lor the present, the Committee be com* posed of the following persons : — Mr. Mac Rea Mr. C. Moved by Mr. Towebs ; seconded by Mr. Vincent : That Mr. J. G. Sannders be requested to act as Honorary Secretary to the Committee. 4. Moved by Mr. Packman ; seconded bf Mr. Vincent : That the Committeo be :equested to take especial care that the preliminary arrangements for the formation of the Society be made with a view to prevent any future question as to the legality of its proceedings. 5. Moved by Mr. G. R. Richabdson ; seconded by Mr. Fulleb,: That this meeting is desirous of recording its opinion that it would be desirable to form eventually, in connection with the projected Society, an Institution for the purpose of diffusing among its members Literary and Scientific Information, by means of a Reading Rsom, a Public library, the delivery of Public Lectures, and by such other means as may hersafter appear expedient. 0.
