ACTOR ”LIED LIKE GENTLEMAN”
Los Angeles. Sept. 26 Lionel Atwi!!. screen actor, admitted that he had exhibited lewd films in his beach home in the summer of 1940. and he pleaded guilty to a charge of perjury. He explained that he had ‘"lied like a gentleman" to protect his friends when he had told a grand jury that lie had not shown such a film. Previously his lawyer and the District Attorney's office had said that a settlement had been reached whereby the actor was absolved from charges of having given wild parties in his home. Atwill is now on bail pending a hearing of the case on 'sth October.
