Five appeals against a decision of s the Manpower Officer in Wellington d directing Italians to take employment e with the Department of Agriculture - were heard by the Wellington Industrial Manpower Committee. e The Manpower Officer said the department men for vegetable - growing and there was a shortage of e such labour. It had been considered d proper to mobilise aliens for this work as. until now. they had not been called - upon to bear personal sacrifices in comh parison with those suffered by British e subjects. The decision in all of the cases was a reserved. _
