THOUSANDS DIE IN HONAN PROVINCE ROADS CLOGGED WITH REFUGEES (Rec. 9.45 a.m.) Chungking, Oct. 19. The correspondent of the Associated Press of America, says that stricken by one of the worst famines in modern times, thousands of Chinese are dying in the Honan province, where 6.000.000 are officially reported to be on the verge of starvation. Official reports to Chungking said 18.000.000 famine refugees clogged the roads from Honan towards Shensi and Hepeh. The situation is intensified by the necessity of supporting a large military force holding the present front against the Japanese.—P.A.
