Major (Lieutenant-Colonel, 2nd N.Z.E.F.) G. J. McNaught. E.D.. The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own) ceases to be seconded to the N.Z.E.F.. and is posted to the Reserve of Officers. Supplementary List, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Colonel McNaught has been appointed headmaster of New Plymouth Boys’ High School in succession to Mr W. H. Moyes, who has resigned. At the Teachers’ Certificate examinations held in Nelson in August, Mr J. J. Caskie passed for Class C certificate. Captain A. V. Neal. The Nelson-Marl-borough Mounted Rifles, ceases to be seconded to the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Reliable information received indicates that Miss Margaret North, of the C.M.S. in China, is safe in Hong Kong. Miss North is a daughter of Mr W. B. North, Motupiko. 2nd-Lieutenants (temp.) N. R. Kearns, J. B. Hargrave, and M. T Hishon. The Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast Regiment, have been promoted to be Lieutenants. A motion congratulating Mr R. P. Furnr on his re-election as president of the Automobile Association (Marlborough) and on his completion of 20 years in that position, was passed at the meeting of the Automobile Association (Nelson) last night. During the tea adjournment at the Nelson Education Board yesterday opportunity was taken to refer to Mr J. H. Harkness's 84th birthday next Thursday. The chairman (the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre) paid a tribute to Mr Harkness’s long service to education and expressed the hope that the board ! wov’d continue to have his valuable services as a member.
