HOURS OF WORK IN AUSTRALIA

LIMITED BY REGULATIONS (Rec. 12.40 p.m.) Canberra, This Day. National security regulations limiting the hours of work for manual workers in Australian industry have been gazetted. Their object is to increase the war output by counteracting industrial fatigue. The regulations prescribe a maximum week of 48 hours for workers aged less than eighteen. Up to 30th November a maximum week of 80 hours for workers aged more than eighteen is provided, and after 30th November a maximum week of 56 hours for workers aged more than eighteen.—P.A.
