NEW RATION BOOKS

FIRST DAY OF ISSUE The issue of the new ration books eommeneed to-day when, although there was a queue at times during the busy hours, the rush of applications for books was not nearly as great as on the first day of the previous issue. It was estimated this afternoon that by the close of business this evening some 1000 books would have been issued from the Chief Post Office at Nelson. When ration books were first issued, 3100 were given out on the first day. Two Post Office officials this morning and four this afternoon were kept busy handling enquiries and issuing the books. To avoid a last-minute rush the Post Office authorities advise the public to secure their new ration books as early as possible.
