The social committee of the Nelson Townswomen's Guild held a very sue- « cessful card evening recently. All pre- * sent had a thoroughly enjoyable even- | ing. while contributing at the same | tme to the soldiers’ parcel fGnds. The 1 duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr | Adams in the first half, and Mr Holly- f man in the second half of the evening. | Mrs S. J. Wilson, president, after | thanking all present for coming to help § this worthy cause, presented the prizes. I the first prizes going to Mr and Mrs ,! Spence. Mrs McArthur and Mr Bolton. 1 1 and the consolation prizes being won by 1 Mesdames Winstanley. Powrie. Misses | Purvis and Southorn. Travelling prizes | were won by Mrs Spence and Mr 80l- I ton. The special prize of the evening if went to Mr Adams.
