The House of Representatives, last • night, after passing the Reserves and 1 Other Lands Disposal Bill, placed on I record, at a suggestion from Sir Al- ! fred Ransom (National, Pahiatua) its appreciation of a gift of 600 acres of •land at Dipton, by the late Sir Robert Anderson lor the settlement of exservicemen of the present war. and for the purpose of assisting widows and orphans of Southland servicemen by grants from the revenue derived from the gift. Sir Robert Anderson’s death
occurred this week. The Bill contained special provisions with respect to the gfft Botli Mr Ransom and the Prime Minister iMr Fraser) paid tribute to the lrte Sir Robert Anderson for his generou. gift, which they said would assist in the rehabilitation of ex-servicemen. They also expressed the regret of the Bouse at his death, Mr Fraser remarking that Sir Robert was one of New Zealand’s finest citizens.
