NELSON R.S.A.

MONTHLY EXECUTIVE MEETING At the monthly executive meeting of the Nelson R.S.A. tho president. Mr U. R. L. West, was in the chair. A number of cases of assistance to ex-service-men were attended to. Present in addition were Messrs C. L. Flanagan. W. J. Forsyth. R. N. Harley, G. R. Jamieson. A. B. Kidson. G. R. McKellar. E. L. Murray. J. H. Pye-Smith. and A. C. Wastnev The president reported having attended a meeting of the Collingwood branch of the R.S.A.. where he was able to give a full account of the general activities of the association. This was greatly appreciated, as due to travel difficulty the Nelson executive finds it impossible to visit branches as it did before the petrol shortage. Ways and means of overcoming this difficulty were discussed and branches were assured that whenever possible representatives of the Nelson executive would visit and maintain touch with them. It was decided to apply for an extra copy of N.Z.R.S.A. (Headquarters) circulars., which would then be posted in rotation ! to the branches. Voluminous minutes uf recent N.Z.R.S.A. meetings were carefully gone through and showed an enormous amount of business being attended to in the interests of ex-servicemen. The president reported that at a meeting held in reference to forming a Women’s Section of the R.S.A.. a pro- 1 visional president and committee had been appointed, and that a meeting j would be held later to elect permanent j officers. The president explained that j the women’s section would in no way ! interfere with the present working of I tl. R.S.A. The question of holding R.S.A. balls j yearly or twice yearly was favourably considered, but it was decided that ■ these were more suitable for the winter | months. It was reported that it had been found impossible so far to make any arrangements lor the resumption of the j monthly teas.
