UP THE GULLY

On Friday after school we went up the gully and took two sacks. We collected cones, blue-gum nuts, and ! dry blue-gum leaves for the tire. The j nuts smell nice on the fire. We found |a hedgehog and I touched him and he walked away. We saw a lamb, but I the poor little thing was dead, and we j saw a live one with Jts mother. Under the big blue-gum I found two baby j gum trees and I brought one home and ■ planted in the garden. Before we went up the gully we put on our bathing logs and Mummy sprinkled us with the hose. —Mollv McConchie. Nelson.
