HOSPITAL MEAT SUPPLIES
REQUEST FOR COLLECTION FROM CONTRACTOR .Tlie District Oil Fuel Controller .▼rote to the monthly meeting of the Nelson Hospital Board advising that it v\as at present proposed, in connection with the zoning of deliveries, to discontinue the delivery of meat in the city area, and asking the board if it could arrange for the hospital to collect its meat supplies from the contractor's premises. A report to the board by its House Manager (.Mr U. R. L. West) stated that as it was necessary for the meat to be in the kitchen by 7.30 a.m. daily it would mean a special trip to town by the board's truck and that being so it appeared no saving in petrol or tyres would be made. It would also be necessary to provide a special container to carry the meat on the truck which was used for all hospital purposes. In addition the hours of work of the drivers would have to be altered and at times when the drivers were engaged with the ambulance service it would be necessary to employ an outside delivery service to deliver the meat. It was decided to reply to the Controller on the lines of the House Manager’s report.
