N.Z. GOLF ASSOCIATION

annual meeting held WAR DIFFICULTIES DISCUSSED Wellington. Oct. 14 "War conditions.” said Sir Alexander Roberts at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association, “have caused a heavy loss in membership, a total of 78 clubs having left the Association since last year, reducing the number to 245.'* He spoke of the difficulty lacing golfers to keep the game going, particularly in regard to bails, but he mentioned that a synthetic ball was being produced in America which might perhaps case the position. The annual report mentioned that £ISOO had been invested in Government war loan. Loss on the year’s working was £75 Os 3d. but the accumulated fund remained at £I9OO A suggestion was put forward that where practicable courses should be altered to eliminate areas in which balls were inclined to be lost. The council was re-elected.—P.A.
