GENERAL HURLEY INWASHINGTON Washington, Sept. 1. Praising the war spirit of the New Zealand people. General Hurley (U.S. Minister to New Zealand) said New Zealand’s casualty list was greater in proportion to the population than any other of the United Nations. “The New Zealanders are a great people. They have come to a full realisation that the present challenge cannot be met by words. We must attack, defeat and destroy the enemy ourselves.” General Hurley conferred with President Roosevelt.—P.A.
