SAARBRRCKEN BOMBED
ATTACK AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS TARGETS CLEARLY SEEN (Rec. 10.0 a.m.) Rugby, Sept. 2. The Air Ministry states: “Last night a strong force of our bombers attacked Saarbrucken. The weather was good and targets were clearly seen. The attack was an outstanding success. Three bombers are missing.” LUFTWAFFE RAID ON SHEFFIELD? Berlin claims that the Luftwaffe last night bombed important steelworks at Sheffield. Light bombers yesterday attacked a British camp at Dungeness. Two Focke Wulf 190 planes which approached the Sussex coast this morning were shot down into the sea by fighters. It was announced in Berlin that the Luftwaffe last night attacked war factories in the Midlands and eastern England.—P.A. and 8.0. W.
