Ten thousand Australian women had already joined the W.A A.A.F., but thcr e were still too many women outside the service who could make a far more valuable contribution to the war efTort than they had done yet. Last December, there were in Australia 220.000 women between the ages of 18 and 45 not employed Even now. many were not engaged in useful war work, although they were of an age. education and health standard to fit them for service in the W.A.A.A.F.
