NO TRUTH IN REPORT

ATTEMPT ON LIFE OF VICEROY OF INDIA (Rec. 2.10 p.m.) New Delhi, Sept. 2. There is no truth in the report of the attempt against the life of the Viceroy, Lord Linlithgow. He attended the usual weekly meeting of the Executive Council this morning.

The Japanese propaganda station at Batavia was responsible for the report, which other Axis radios took up.—P.A. (Earlier message elsewhere in this issue.)
