ANOTHER BATTALION FORMED

CHANGE IN ORGANISATION A big change has taken place in the organisation of the Home Guard in the Nelson and Waimea areas. As from Ist September what was formerly the Waimea Battalion has been divided into two. One part becomes the Nelson Battalion with four companies. It is commanded by Major A. R. Kingsford. with Lieut. A.~ S Edwards as adjutant. Captain T. H. Robinson relinquishes command of “B” Company and assumes the appointment of 2 i/c Battalion. Captain A J. Gray relinquishes command of H.Q. Company and assumes command of “B” Company. Lieut. V. }J. Hawke assumes command of “A” ; Company. Lieut. L. B. Rowe assumes command of H.Q. Company, vice Capi tain A. J. Gray. The other part will now be the Waimea Battalion with headquarters at Richmond. Captain A LeG. Campbell, formerly commander of “A” Company, is appointed to command it, and Lieut S. H. Busch will be adjutant. These two will in future operate as separate units. POSTINGS AND PROMOTIONS The following recruits are posted as under:—To H.Q. Coy.: G. McF. Canning E Grav, Medical Platoon. To New Coy. : P. P. Clarke J. W. Silke, H. D. McKenzie E. T. Chittenden, O. K. Frost. To “E” Coy.: E. H. Francis, A. W. Rodgers, Harry Ashworth. Guardsman J. T. Lewis is promoted to W.0.1l and appointed C.S.M. “B” Coy.; Cpl. W. N Frost is promoted to Sergeant
