EXPENSIVE FIRES IN SWEDEN

TIMBERYARDS AND LEATHERWORKS ABLAZE (Rec. 10.20 a.m.) Stockholm, Sept. 1. A fire swept the big Marma timberyards at Soderhamn last night. The flames spread to the port where five ships were set ablaze. Damage at the timberyards is estimated at £250,000. Fifteen brigades fought the blaze throughout the night but failed to gain control. The cause of the fire is unknown. A second fire at Malmo caused damage amounting to several million kronen at a leather-works,—P.A.
