RAIDERS OVER BURMA
R.A.F. AND AMERICAN BOMBERS (Rec. 1.0 p.m.) Rugby, Sept. 1. A New. Delhi communique states that in offensive reconnaissance in Burma on Sunday, the R.A.F. bombed and ma-chine-gunned Kalewa, on the Chindwin River. Hits were scored on buildings and river boats. All the planes returned safely. A Chungking message says American bombers attacked Myitkyina, in Burma starting large fires. Barracks, warehouses and railway buildings were the targets.—B.O.W. The enemy dropped bombs on a point of the south-east coast of England today. Some damage was done and a few people killed. —8.0. W.
