PRODUCTION OFFICIALS DISMISSED

ATTEMPT TO DEFRAUD GOVERNMENT

(Rec. 10.35 a.m.) Washington, Aug. 31. The Justice Department announced a grand jury indictment of two dismissed War Production Board officials. Robert Rhoads and Ralph Glaser, and three used machine-tool dealers on charges of conspiracy to defraud the Government and of interfering with the prosecution of the war. It is alleged that Rhoads and Glaser sold an option on machine-tools at a personal profit of 30,000 dollars, and agreed not to make a freezing order against the tools or report their existence. Glaser was hired by the British Purchasing Commission as technical adviser on the procurement of machine-tools. —P.A.
