MOBILISATION OF MANPOWER
INTENTIONS OF CANADIAN GOVERNMENT (Rec. 11.20 a.m.) Ottawa, Aug. 31. The Minister of Labour, Mr Mitchell, announced that the Government intends completely to mobilise manpower and has ordered the compulsory employment of all persons capable of working who are at present unemployed or not working full time. In future no employer may dismiss a worker and no worker may leave a job without seven days’ notice in writing All employers must report their future labour needs to employment and selective service officers, hiring their employees only through the Government Employment Service. —P.A.
