ii HRiLK OF NEW POTATOES WELLINGTON, Tnis Day.—The Minister of Marketing announces that the Price Tribunal on his recommcn daticn and with the approval of the Minister of Industries and Commerce ( lias issued a price order covering the . sale and purchase of new potatoes. At j the present time the price for very : early potatoes had undoubtedly reached an excessive high level and it was therefore decided that some action 1 should be taken in the interests of consumers. In addition, the present high prices were encouraging some growers to dig potatoes in an ob immature condition. The order became operative to-day. Potatoes grown in the North Island or the Nelson Province were fixed at £35 minimum to £42 10s ! maximum, f.o.r, 5.1., and the remainder of the South Island to £4O minimum and £47 30s maximum. Provision is for the fixation ol in termediary margins with a maximum retail price ot 7ct in respect of potatoes grown in the North Lland and Nelson, and 7£d for the remainder of the South Island.—P.A.
