COMMANDER OF SECOND FRONT
GENERAL MARSHALL MENTIONED New York, Aug. 29 Genera] Marshall, U.S. Army Chief of Staff, is mentioned in dispatches from both Washington and abroad as the probable choice fot supreme com inander of the United Nations second front forces, says the “New York Times.” Berlin radio announced that Mr Churchill, President Roosevelt and M Stalin had agreed to appoint General Marshall commander-in-chief of the in vasion forces. The “New York Times” Washington correspondent says Mr Roosevelt held an important conference at the White House attended by Admiral Leahy. General Marshall. Admiral King, Lieut - General Arnold, Mr Donald Nelson and Mr Hopkins. Though no one would comment, it is believed that they discussed tying production more closely to the strategy for victory.—P.A.
