FIGHTING SERVICES CLUB
WEEK-END ACTIVITIES GIFTS OF POTATOES AND OTHER PRODUCE During the week-end over 80 hot meals were served to men and women of the armed forces at the Fighting Services’ Club. This was in addition to the afternoon teas and suppers which were also very popular. The catering for hot meals has been greatly helped by a gift from Mr E. R. Andrews. Wairoa of 2 cwt. of tabic potatoes. Two cases of potatoes were also received from Mr C. Higgs, Mapua. The Provincial Patriotic Council and the committee of the Fighting Services’ Club express their thanks for these generous gifts and for other donations of cakes and other food which were received. Many people have kindly promised regular contributions of cakes, scones, etc. GERMAN FLYING SUITS ON DISPLAY By courtesy of Messrs' W. McKay and Sons Ltd., three German flying suits were on exhibition at the Club and were inspected with interest by men of the services. The public will be given the opportunity of inspecting this interesting display on Tuesday afternoon from 2 o’clock at the club rooms.
